13 GALLON BLUE BAG
Layer items in the following order:
Newspapers
Magazines, catalogs, & glossy inserts
White & pastel colored office paper
Includes: white, pastel, bond quality letterhead, photocopy, mimeograph, flyers, loose-leaf notebook paper, multi-part carbonless forms, envelopes (including windows & labels), glue bound soft cover books with bond quality paper. Shredded paper is acceptable, but bag separately or place heavier paper on top.
Low quality mixed paper
Includes: phonebooks, paperback and hardback books, flattened non-corrugated boxes (cereal boxes, shoe boxes, etc), goldenrod and other dark or fluorescent colors, any other unsoiled paper.
Unacceptable: Soiled paper, such as paper towels, napkins, and tissue; sheets of sticky labels.

Co-mingle in the same bag:
Metals
Any metal is acceptable as long as one person can lift it and it does not contain freon. Remove food solids and rinse cans. Fold lids inside and crush open ends of tall cans. Remove glass from door or window frames. Extra large pieces do not need to be bagged.
Plastics
Any clean, dry plastic is acceptable. Lids are acceptable, but remove from container. Labels do not need to be removed from bottles. Rinse and drain bottles completely. Quart oil bottles need to be drained for one day.
Styrofoam is acceptable. Tie pieces together if too large to fit in a 30 gallon bag. Foam peanuts are acceptable, but place in a completely separate plastic bag and close tightly.
FIVE GALLON WHITE BUCKET
For empty and rinsed glass bottles and jars. Remove plastic and metal lids and metal neck rings. Labels may be left on. Do not include broken glass or light bulbs.
MISCELLANEOUS
Cardboard & brown paper sacks
Cardboard should be corrugated. Flatten completely. Bag only if you have a lot of small pieces. Remove food from pizza boxes and turn inside out.
Motor oil Put in a detergent bottle or other sturdy metal or plastic container with a tight lid. Do not contaminate with gasoline, solvents, antifreeze, or pesticides.
Automotive & household batteries Keep separated from other recyclables.
Clothing
Only clean, wearable clothing is acceptable. Place in either a blue or green bag completely separate from other recyclables.
REMINDERS
· Set blue and green bags out only when full. A partially filled bag is considered wasteful.
· Close bags securely with twist ties provided.
· Do not use paper or plastic grocery bags or cardboard boxes to package your recyclables.
· The recycler will leave bags if he considers them to contain unacceptable materials.
· Additional bags are available at City Hall. You may request bags from the recycler
by taping a note to your bucket on recycle day.
