North Newton Calendar

The North Newton Community Foundation was formed in December 2011 and is affiliated with the Central Kansas Community Foundation.  The goal of the foundation is to establish a means to benefit a wide variety of non-profit organizations in their efforts to improve health care, human services, education, arts and culture or other charitable initiatives which enhance the North Newton community.

SANITARY SEWER CLEANING - The sanitary sewer will be cleaned out June 23-25 in portions of North Newton.  Those areas affected will get yellow notices placed on their front doors.  Please watch for these notices as they do contain important instructions for citizens.  Areas affected include most of the mid-section of town:  Bluestem Street and Court, Sumac Street, Goldenrod Road, Acacia, Wildwood Way and Court, Rosewood Avenue, West 26th Street and some portions around Bethel College on the east side of Main Street.

We have three council members, Dennis Campbell, Gregg Dick and Jim Goering, whose terms are ending in January 2022.   Four candidates are running to fill these three positions:  Dennis Campbell, Gregg Dick, Mark Jenkins and Ray Penner.  Elections are November 2.  More information on each candidate will be featured in the October ECHO.

delivers a supply of trash and recycle bags to each home in North Newton.  The next delivery will be in mid-May.  South Central Recycling will be delivering a year supply at this time.  These bags are to be used for your household trash and recycling materials only - not to bag leaves, grass clippings and other unintended purposes.  Once you run out, you will need to purchase your own bags until South Central Recycling delivers the next supply.
CALL 911 for any emergency, including reporting an after-hours maintenance issue such as a water main break or sewer back-up.  The appropriate law enforcement officer, emergency service personnel or city staff will be dispatched.
