UTILITY BILLING

UTILITY SERVICE APPLICATION - New residents must complete a Utility Service Application and return it to City Hall in person, by mail or email prior to moving in.

WATER, SEWER, SOLID WASTE (TRASH AND RECYCLING) are billed by the City of North Newton. The bill is prepared and mailed monthly by the 1st.  Payment is due the 15th of the month.  A 5% penalty is applied to delinquent accounts on or around the 15th.  If payment has not been received by the first of the next month, water service is disconnected.  To restore water service, the customer must pay the delinquent bill plus a $30.00 re-connection charge at City Hall. If City personnel is called in after hours to restore water services the fee is $100.00.

WATER meters are read the middle of every month. The minimum charge is $27.00 for zero to 300 cubic feet of water consumption ($32.00 for out-of-district residents).  Charges on usage above 300 cf are based on a graduated scale.  A one-time charge of $30.00 to set up your services will appear on your first bill as a miscellaneous charge.  In addition, renters are required to pay a $50.00 water deposit when setting up service.

SEWER is based on the winter quarter (mid-November through mid-February) water usage. Sewer is re-averaged yearly on your April bill and rates are fixed for the remainder of the year. The minimum charge is $37.00 for zero to 300 cubic feet.  The charge above the minimum of 300 cubic feet is $10.36 per 100 cubic feet.  Newcomers to North Newton will pay the minimum rate until the next re-average period.

SOLID WASTE: North Newton's collection provider is Nisly Brothers of Hutchinson, KS.  The monthly charge per residential living unit is $18.00.  Trash collection is every Monday (except for holidays that land on Monday); recycle collection every other Monday, depending where you live in North Newton.  See City Services-Trash & Recycling for more information.
