The City of North Newton is accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker, a non-exempt full-time position with a starting pay range of $19.00 - $22.81/hour. 

The ideal candidate will be eager to work for our Public Works Director and learn to do some of the following skills: 

  • Operate a variety of tools and machinery  
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance at water and wastewater facilities
  • Perform maintenance on City buildings and mow City grounds
  • Perform utility locates
  • Assist with water main leaks  

Candidates with experience in those skills, and/or those with a Class I Kansas Water and Wastewater Operators Certification will be preferred, but the City is willing to train these skills as well. 

In addition to technical capabilities, it is equally important that the eventual candidate demonstrates the following skills and abilities unique to this position with the City of North Newton:

Candidates with a High School Diploma or GED who possess these skills are encouraged to apply. Applications and/or resumes will be accepted until the position is filled. Candidates preferred to live within 20 minutes of the City. 

A thorough knowledge of public works functions, construction, operation and maintenance of community infrastructure, and equipment is also desired. Individual must have a valid Kansas driver’s license. 

The City of North Newton is an EOE.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • On call

Experience:

  • Maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)
